They were called to the rear of King Street, Golden Square at 8:19pm, after a pile of rubbish ignited.
Three units responded, and had the fire under control shortly after arriving.
Golden Square Fire Brigade First Lieutenant Alistair Baird said the fire’s cause had yet to be determined.
None of the neighbouring properties were evacuated.
Exactly 30 minutes later, firefighters were called to a house fire in Rochester.
A Country Fire Authority spokeswoman said the occupants of the single-storey brick home were evacuated safely.
The fire at High Street, Rochester, was deemed safe eight minutes after firefighters arrived at the scene.
