Played at Morshead Park Stadium in Ballarat, Bendigo City was fast out of the blocks, scoring the first goal in the opening moments of the contest.
But two quick goals to Ballarat City soon had the home side in front on the scoreboard.
A third goal later in the contest sealed Ballarat’s second win over Bendigo City this season and its ninth overall for the season.
With three minor rounds remaining, Bendigo City is still searching for its first win.
A clash against Eastern Lions awaits on August 12 at Gardiners Creek Reserve in Burwood.
Meanwhile, Bendigo City lost 1-6 to Ballarat in Saturday’s under-20 youth match.
Ethan Hunter scored his second goal of the season to be the visitors’ lone scorer, while Lachlan Wright scored three and skipper Joshua Lynch two for Ballarat.
In junior games at Epsom Huntly Recreation Reserve, Bendigo City lost 0-5 to Whittlesea Ranges, lost 1-2 in the under-16s with Frank Gibbs scoring for the home side, lost 1-0 in the under-15s, lost 0-3 in the under-14s, and were beaten 1-3 in the under-13s.
Ethan Furness was the sole goal scorer in the under-13s clash and now has two for the season.
The junior teams will play Pascoe Vale FC in Bendigo this weekend.
