The biggest surprise in the 12-nation competition is Uganda after it defeated Malawi at the recent Africa Cup.
New Zealand, England, Jamaica and South Africa are ranked second through to fifth behind the Aussies.
Malawi, Fiji, Wales, Uganda and Northern Ireland round out the top 10, with Barbados and Scotland filling the 11th and 12th positions for the tournament.
Bendigo’s Caitlin Thwaites is a strong chance to be selected in the Diamonds squad.
The GC2018 netball competition commences with preliminary matches at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre from April 5-12 before culminating in the finals matches at the Coomera Indoor Sports Centre on April 14-15.
The draw for the tournament will be completed next month.
