Searching for loose change in every nook and cranny of your car is a thing of the past at 10 parking sites throughout Bendigo, with council today announcing it has installed credit card-friendly ticket machines.

Twenty-one new machines that allow motorists to insert or tap their credit cards have been put into all-day car parks.
Health and wellbeing director Vicky Mason said the organisation was responding to community demand for more flexible and convenient parking payment options.
“We know that many people do not carry coins on them and paying for parking can be inconvenient,” Ms Mason said.
“This new technology gives people more payment options and makes it easier for them to park when they are in and around the Bendigo CBD.”
The new machines still allow drivers to pay by coin. Banknote payment is still not possible.
As recently as March last year the council said the cost of credit card technology meant it was not under consideration for the CBD.
The move follows a City of Greater Bendigo trial of the PayStay parking app, which allows users of all-day car parks on Myers and Market streets to pay for their parking via their smartphones.
Credit-card enabled ticket machines are found in:
- Tom Flood car park
- QEO car park
- All day section of Forrest Street
- All day section of Short Street
- King Street car park
- At the top of Mitchell Street
- Myers Street car park
- Market Street car park
- All day section of Mundy Street
- McCrae Street car park
