Seven of the eight heats were won by short-priced favourites, setting up a classic $47,000 to the winner final at Lord’s Raceway this Friday night.
All eight winners broke the 24-second barrier for the 425m trip, with the flying Zinzan Brooke setting the fastest time of the day in heat six.
Starting from box seven, Zinzan Brooke ran a blistering 23.404 seconds to defeat the in-form Jesaulenko.
Jesaulenko’s time of 23.538 seconds would have been good enough to win every other heat.
