The Roos were in danger of slipping out of the top five after they lost three games in a row.
However, Saturday’s impressive 52-42 win over fourth-placed Eaglehawk keeps the Roos in touch with the top three.
Kangaroo Flat’s victory snapped Eaglehawk’s four-game winning streak and the two teams are now separated by just one win going into next weekend’s general bye.
Golden Square retained top spot with a solid 71-43 win over Strathfieldsaye.
Square was without injured duo Kelly Wilson (hand) and Lucy Morcom (ankle) and then lost Delaynie Caldwell (arm) to injury in the second quarter.
Allira Holmes and Andrea Wilson were Square’s best performers in the victory.
Gisborne consolidated third spot after it defeated South Bendigo by 15 goals.
Playing at Harry Trott Oval for the first time, the Bulldogs had all the answers for a gallant Bloods outfit.
Since losing to Golden Square in round five, Gisborne has rattled off five wins and a draw against Sandhurst to stamp itself as a genuine flag contender.
Maryborough survived a scare against bottom team Kyneton.

The sixth-placed Magpies have little room for error in their bid to play finals and they were forced to work harder than they would have hoped to secure the four points against the Tigers.
Kyneton produced one of its best performance of the season in getting within eight goals of the Magpies.
Maryborough had won their round two encounter by 30 goals, but this time the Pies had to settle for a 62-54 win.
In the final game of the round, Sandhurst handed Castlemaine a 92-23 thumping at Camp Reserve.
Going into the general bye, Golden Square heads the ladder by half a game from Sandhurst, with Gisborne one further win back in third place. Eaglehawk is in fourth place on 28 points, with Kangaroo Flat rounding out the top five on 24. Maryborough is sixth on 20 ahead of South Bendigo on 16.
