The Dragons put the game away early with a five-goal to none first term on its way to a 21.18 (144) to 6.4 (40) win.
“I was happy with the way we played,’’ Sandhurst coach Wayne Primmer said.
“Everything that we put in place that we wanted to do, we basically did, so that was a good sign.
“Out of the 21 goals we kicked, nine of them were by our talls, which I was really happy with.”
Lee Coghlan celebrated his 150th game for the Dragons with a best on ground performance.
Defender Codie Price set the Dragons up off half-back, the speedy Lachlan Zimmer and midfielder Xavier Walsh played their best games at senior level and skipper Blair Holmes won plenty of the ball.
While Castlemaine suffered another heavy defeat, it wasn’t all doom and gloom for the Magpies.
Their effort was much better than the previous encounter with Sandhurst, which the Dragons won by 199 points.
Jackson Hood kicked four of the Magpies’ six goals, while the reliable Jarryd Graham and star midfielder Kal Huntly were once again prominent.
Teenager Darby Semmens continues to impress for the Pies as well.
The general bye has come at a good time for both clubs.
The Dragons and Magpies expect to get several senior players back from injury for their round 12 clashes with Kyneton and Golden Square respectively.
