The 13.16 (94) to 11.7 (73) victory gave the third-placed Hawks a handy six-point buffer on fourth-placed Sandhurst and a two-game advantage over the fifth-placed Bloods.
After leading the Hawks to victory over South Bendigo in round one with six goals, Borough star Matt Gretgrix followed up with another match-winning performance.
Gretgrix kicked eight of his side’s 13 goals and should have kicked at least 10 had he not missed a few majors that he’d normally kick with his eyes closed.
Midfielder/forward Ben McPhee was named the Hawks’ best player for the third time in the past six games.
Young defender Dylan Hanley was superb across half-back and Matt Filo did plenty of grunt work for the Hawks.
The Bloods never gave up, but their lack of a marking target inside forward 50 made it hard for them to put scoreboard pressure on the Hawks.
Liam Bartels continued his great season and was named the Bloods’ best.
Ruckman Kieran Strachan dominated the hit-outs and was damaging around the ground, Aaron Connaughton was good through the midfield and Zac Hare mopped up across half-back.
The Bloods return to Harry Trott Oval next Saturday to face Gisborne, while Eaglehawk should make it six wins in a row when they play Kangaroo Flat at Dower Park.
