The Storm won 16.6 (102) to 5.5 (35) – their 29th victory in a row at Tannery Lane – in their annual Give Me 5 For Kids Cup match, with the ladder-leaders having now given up just 13 goals in their past three games.
Of Kangaroo Flat’s five goals, the Roos kicked four in the final term after having just 1.4 on the board at three quarter-time.
“Our defensive end has been really sound and we’re scoring well down the other end, and it was nice to be able to get through the game without any injuries,” Storm coach Darryl Wilson said.
“It was pleasing to get Sam Heavyside (three goals) through his first full game, so that was one of the big positives out of today for us.”
Jamieson Sheahan, who was a standout with his polished ball use, was named best for the Storm, while Tom Dowd and Kellan Smith were also prominent.
“Kellan has probably been known more as a run-with player, but we’ve released him this year and he’s also spending some time up forward and is going really well for us,” Wilson said.
In his second senior game for the Storm, who are now 6-1, key forward Brad Rohde kicked four goals.
The Roos’ two best were Ross Turner, who had a shutdown role on Storm on-baller Trent Donnan, and Mitch Collins, who kept Lachlan Sharp (two goals) to his quietest day this season.
