St Therese’s rallied from a three quarter-time deficit to defeat Maiden Gully YCW 6.8 (44) to 5.4 (34).
Maiden Gully led at quarter-time, half-time and three quarter-time, but couldn’t hold off the Sharks.
Quarry Hill held off Eaglehawk by 11 points.
The Demons overcame some wayward kicking to win 6.10 (46) to 5.5 (35).
A three-goal to one last quarter was the catalyst of St Francis’ 20-point win over Castlemaine.
It was only five points the difference at the last break before St Francis took over in the final term to win 6.4 (40) to 3.2 (20).
The games weren’t as close in the under-14A division.
Sandhurst looked very impressive in its 65-point win over Eaglehawk.
The Dragons kicked four goals to none in the first term before cruising to a 12.10 (82) to 2.5 (17) win.
Kyneton showed it will be a premiership threat when it defeated Strathfieldsaye by 34 points.
The young Tigers withstood every Storm challenge and won 12.7 (79) to 6.9 (45).
In the under-16 seniors, Sandhurst-Marist Dockers’ straight kicking was crucial in their 17-point win over Golden Square.
The Dockers trailed the Bulldogs by four points at three quarter-time, but they added 4.1 to 0.4 in the final quarter to race away to a 11.6 (72) to 7.13 (55) victory.
Strathfieldsaye overcame a goalless quarter to defeat Eaglehawk by 22 points at Canterbury Park.
The Storm raced to a 21-point lead at half-time before being held goalless in the third term. The Hawks didn’t take full advantage and only added 1.2.
The Storm steadied in the final term and won 10.6 (66) to 6.8 (44).
Kangaroo Flat held South Bendigo goalless after quarter-time in their clash at Dower Park.
The Roos led by just three points at quarter-time, but it was one-way traffic from then on.
The Roos added 9.8 to 0.7 in the final three quarters to win 12.8 (80) to 2.10 (22).
In the under-15 girls, Strathfieldsaye edged out Golden Square by six points in a thriller.
The Storm led at every change before hanging on to win 6.9 (45) to 6.3 (39).
The other two games were lopsided. Sandhurst defeated Kyneton by 102 points, while Eaglehawk thumped Kangaroo Flat by 116 points.
In the under-18 girls, Castlemaine and South Bendigo shared the points after playing out a draw.
The Magpies were two goals down at the last change, but they added 2.0 to 0.0 in the last term to level the scores at 5.3 (33) apiece.
Kyneton had too much class for North Bendigo, with the Tigers winning comfortably 13.14 (92) to 0.1 (1).
Strathfieldsaye had 37 scoring shots to one in its 15.22 (112) to 0.1 (1) win over Eaglehawk.
Meanwhile, Strathfieldsaye under-12A players Declan Lowther and Mitchell Elkington played their 50th games of junior football on the weekend.
