Kennett, who grew up in England and arrived in Bendigo in 2000, was selected to create the Golden Book Star Wars series last year.
In May kids adventure book Pixel Raiders was released. Pixel Raiders is a car-racing adventure series published by Scholastic.
“There is an element of luck in this type of career but you also generate your own luck by putting stuff out there,” Kennett said.
“You can kind generate those opportunities in a way. If your work isn't out there, no one can notice it.”
Kennett said he can’t remember not drawing as a child.
“In England I did GCSE art and was lucky to have an art teacher allowed me to do cartooning as main course work pieces, which was what I was interested in,” he said.
“From there I didn't know where it would take me but it was encouraging that could do it.”
Both the Star Wars series and Pixel Raiders have new episodes being released later in the year.
“Doing Star Wars has been pretty awesome. I’m doing another one right now, which is number five in the Golden Book series,” Kennett said.
“I’m still still very kid orientated, so the adult side of illustrating doesn’t draw me as much as doing fun silly stuff.”
“In the next couple of months I also have Boomer at the Bat coming out which is an American project that Stan Lee has been overseeing.”
