In-form stayer Surefire looks the one to beat after drawing box one and only has to run up to his recent efforts to win. At his only start at Bendigo he was beaten a nose in smart time and since then has scored wins at Shepparton and Warragul in his past three starts.
From box one Surefire should find himself in a forward position and take plenty of beating. However, he needs to be on song as the opposition is very strong.
Crackerjack Jake has twice scored victories over the 600m at the Meadows in recent weeks, McIvor Neville has won two of his past four starts and Lala Shim is more than capable of making her presence felt.
The best bet of the afternoon is in the Railway Station Hotel sprint in the form of Tuggeragh. The Steve White trained sprinter is facing the starter for the 50th time and to date has an impressive record of 19 victories and 18 placings.
After scoring fast 22.42 and 25.62 Warragul wins in April before a solid runner up effort at Sale last start, Tuggerah comes into the race in form and will start the punters elect.
A reliable beginner, Tuggerah will need to box well to make sure he holds off the challenges of the likes of Onya Sami, Penny Worth and Wrecker One, who are racing well and have plenty of speed as well.
