Residents in Bendigo, Huntly and Maryborough are being warned there might be smoke in the air as planned burns are carried out over the next week.

Forest Fire Management Victoria and the CFA will begin planned burning from 9am, Sunday, May 14, in the Happy Tommy Track area at Maryborough, weather permitting.
The 25-hectare fuel reduction burn is 4.7 kilometres north of Maryborough in the Timor State Forest and will burn until 8pm, Tuesday, May 16.
A 22.5-hectare fuel reduction burn will also take place 13 kilometres north of Bendigo in the Greater Bendigo National Park.
The planned burn at Brights Lane, Whipstick, will begin at 9am Monday, May 15, and finish by 8pm, Wednesday, May 17.

SMOKE
- If you are experiencing any symptoms that may be due to smoke exposure, the Department of Health and Human Services advises that you should seek medical advice or call Nurse on Call on 1300 606 024
- Close windows and doors to prevent smoke from entering
ROADS
- Road travel may be hazardous due to low visibility associated with smoke
- Signs may be in place to slow traffic. Obey all traffic signs and instructions from fire agency crews near the burn

ACCESS TO FOREST/PARK RECREATION SITES
- Be aware of planned burns happening in your local area and stay clear of areas where burns are taking place or areas that have recently been burnt
- Access to walking tracks, car parks, camping grounds and picnic sites in areas close to or in burn areas may be restricted
