Prince a loyal servant
It's sad to hear that HRH Prince Philip is standing down from all public duties considering what a life he has led.

He has been (and still is) by the Queen’s side through the good and the bad times. I hope and pray that his final days are restful and carefree for he has earned his "retirement" and been a noble and loyal servant.

Greens a threat to society
I have been reading the debate over poker machines and their impact on society in recent weeks. It appears, however, from my re-reading of all those letters, those criticising Mr Sadler’s appear to be missing the point he was trying to make.
Mr Sadler may correct me if I am wrong, but I thought the thrust of his letter was about people in a free society being allowed to exercise their freedom of choice as to what legal activities they engage in.
He also exposed the hypocrisy of the Greens policies and statements, as well as recent letters in relation to their true intentions, when they claim the interests of the most vulnerable are a major plank of their policy, when what they really mean is they want control over these people.
How do the Greens help the vulnerable by blackmailing ALP governments to close down cheap and reliable power stations and replace them with subsidised sources that lead to higher cost and power blackouts for these vulnerable people? Policies that lead to shortages and higher prices for gas by locking plentiful supplies of gas in the ground also make life very difficult for those who can least afford it.
I congratulate Mr Sadler in exposing the hypocrisy surrounding the Greens agenda based on an ideology designed to “hook, hijack and hypnotise” not only the vulnerable, but anyone believing without question the Greens policy.
He seems to have hit a few raw nerves in having the courage to expose the Greens ideology that is designed to destroy the society we have come to enjoy. A society that is the envy of the world, one that encourages thousands to come and share the freedoms we take for granted. They come to share with us that basic human right – the one that allows us to think for ourselves, make decisions for ourselves, and accept the responsibility for any consequences relating to those personal decisions.

Residents must have a say
It is interesting to read the comments by David Wright, council employee about “noisy council bashers” and Mayor O’Rourke’s “keyboard warriors” for people who dare write anything adverse about Bendigo council.
If it were not for these people scrutinising council projects and submitting submissions (as Mayor O’Rourke has requested), which is also the right of any ratepayer, then this council would be happy in their own little bubble giving us what they want and not what we need.
I would encourage every ratepayer to express their concerns one way or another.

Coalition’s terrible legacy
National Party MPs Luke O’Sullivan and Steph Ryan have more front than Myer standing outside Bendigo TAFE and attacking the Andrews Labor government for increasing funding for TAFE training.
Only a few short years ago Bendigo TAFE was savaged by funding cuts inflicted by the National and Liberal government. This resulted in cuts to local training programs and young people missing out on getting the skills they need for the job they want.
It took the Andrews Labor government to save TAFE and restore funding following these cuts.
By returning to the scene of the crime all these National MPs have achieved is to remind the community of their terrible legacy of cuts to TAFE.
