Eaglehawk's Caine Stuart finished atop the cadet men's (under-18) under-50kg class, while Campbells Creek's Bryan Jolley claimed honours in the junior 55kg division.
Stuart's win over his New Zealand opponent has provided him with the perfect springboard into the national championships, to be held on the Gold Coast during the Queen's Birthday long weekend.
The 16-year-old is also aiming to compete in the cadet world championships in Santiago, Chile, in August.
Stuart, who trains at the Bendigo Judo Academy in Eaglehawk and also in Melbourne, is hoping to make a name for himself in another sporting field.
The teenager is an aspiring apprentice jockey and spends part of each day with Pat Starr Racing while completing his year 10 studies.
Jolley's win was his seventh Oceania title win and has his sights set firmly on the up-coming national championships and world championships in September.
The 19-year-old is a former World Youth Oympics Games representastive and will be contesting his 11th Australian championships.
This year's world championships will be staged in Hungary, which previously hosted the 2014 world junior titles.
