Police say a driver was "very, very lucky" to avoid injury after his car became airborne and careered into bushland this morning.

Acting Sergeant Mark Smeaton said the yellow hatchback was travelling west on Furness Street in Kangaroo Flat shortly after 11am when the crash happened.
Sergeant Smeaton said the car had been airborne for about 20 metres after the driver failed to negotiate a bend in the road.
He said the 25-year-old male driver walked away from the crash with minor injuries but the car was "completely totalled".
“He’s walked out of it, surprisingly,” he said.
“He’s been taken off to hospital just for checkups, but very, very lucky.”
Sergeant Smeaton said the incident was a timely reminder for motorists to take care on the roads, particularly this time of year.
“Everyone has seen us out and about the message has been given across, drive to the conditions, but even today it just goes to show, it’s a perfect day for it and people are still being careless on the roads,” he said.
Police are investigating but speed is believed to be a factor.
