The man was working at the Bendigo Wine Estate on the Goornong-Axedale Road in Axedale when the incident happened just before 9am.
Leading Senior Constable Laurie Mueck said there was a blockage in the harvester and the man attempted to fix it with his foot, without turning the machine off.
“He’s pretty lucky – he had some good quality boots on,” the Axedale police officer said.
The man was trapped for a short time and an Ambulance Victoria spokesperson said he was taken to Bendigo hospital in a stable condition with a foot injury.
WorkSafe inspectors visited the site this morning.
"WorkSafe is aware of the incident and making inquiries," a spokeswoman said.
Leading Senior Constable Mueck said it was a timely reminder for people working with farm machinery to follow all safety procedures before clearing blockages.
“It’s always a good reminder for people not to put arms and legs into machinery while it’s still going,” he said.
