Fire in White Hills parkland deliberately lit, police and CFA say

Emergency services say a small fire near Bendigo on Thursday was deliberately lit.

Police and Country Fire Authority members attended the scene of a two-metre fire beside bike tracks on The Boulevard, White Hills, just before 4pm on Monday.

The blaze was called in by passers-by and quickly extinguished.

A CFA spokesperson said still conditions and recent wet weather meant the fire did not cause as much damage as it might have in warmer months.

Police were assisted by a number of primary school-aged children at the scene and will file a fire report.
