The Bulldogs’ second-straight senior flag will be unfurled prior to the start of the round two senior clash with Huntly at HIBO Hotel Oval, while the B-reserve netball premiership flag will be raised at 11am.
“It’s a big day for the club, hopefully we get a big crowd along,’’ North Bendigo senior coach Rob Bennett said.
“The fact that we’re playing against Huntly in our annual Golden City Cup day makes it even more special.”
The Bulldogs opened their title defence with a 30-goal win over Heathcote in round one, but Saturday’s clash with Huntly will give Bennett a better idea of where his side is at.
The Hawks are expected to be the Bulldogs’ number one challenger in 2017.
“Huntly has openly said that anything less than a grand final appearance this year will be seen as a failure from their point of view, so they’re obviously confident,’’ Bennett said.
“There wasn’t much between the sides last year, so it will be a case of whoever plays better on the day.”
The two-time premiership coach expects his side to be better for last week’s lopsided win.
“We took some positives out of the second half,’’ he said.
“The first half we didn’t play the style of footy that we set out to at the start of the day, but that’s credit to Heathcote.
“In the second half we got back to the footy we want to play.”
In other HDFNL round two games on Saturday, Lockington-Bamawm United has a golden opportunity to record its first win of the season when it hosts Elmore.
The Cats were competitive in a 42-point loss to Mounts in round one, while the Bloods were poor in a 98-point loss to White Hills.
In the final game of the round, White Hills should make it two wins on the trot when it hosts Heathcote at Tint-A-Car Oval.
