A star at Bendigo Harriers, Baldwin broke the Australian under-20 record when he cleared 2.22 metres to win gold at this month’s Australian open and junior track and field championships at Sydney’s Olympic Park.
He surpassed the Bendigo open residential record of 2.20m held by Olympian John Knight since 1985.
Baldwin is studying at Melbourne University and is a graduate of Bendigo’s Girton Grammar.
His high jump feats in the 2015-16 season earned the H.H. Hunter Athlete of the Year awarded by the Flack Advisory Bendigo Region Athletics.
The Uniroos team bound for Taipei includes hurdles ace Michelle Jenneke and walks star Rachel Tallent.
