Eaglehawk’s Jordan Hynes and Marong’s Jimmy Gadsden have been selected in Victoria’s squad that will play in the Under-15 Kickstart Cup as part of the championships that start on Saturday.
And for the second year in a row, Sandhurst’s Liam Griffiths has been picked in Victoria’s All Nations squad.
The 22-player Kickstart squad features a host of talented indigenous players, while the All Nations team includes players from nine nationalities, including Vietnam where 14-year-old Griffiths was born.
The National Diversity Championships in Sydney provide an opportunity for 213 participants from culturally diverse backgrounds to represent their state.
“Participation in our Kickstart and All Nations squads is an important step for the development of more indigenous and multicultural talent at the elite level,” AFL Victoria indigenous pathways programs manager Aaron Davey said.
