A man has faced court on more than 20 charges, including reckless conduct endangering serious injury and possessing an unregistered handgun, after a stand-off with police in Jackass Flat on Tuesday.

Kayd Thorp, 31, was taken into custody following the six-hour operation and interviewed by police before appearing in the Bendigo Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, where he did not apply for bail.
Police from the critical incident response team and dog squad surrounded the house in Howard Street where Mr Thorp was holed up before making the arrest.
Mr Thorp’s counsel, Robert Timms, said his client was “struck to the head a number of times” and lost consciousness during his arrest and had been treated at hospital for a cut to his scalp prior to appearing in court.
While discussing potential custody management issues, magistrate Sarah Leighfield remarked that Mr Thorp, who kept his head bowed for most of his appearance, was “not looking great”, to which Mr Timms replied “no, he’s in all sorts of bother”.
Mr Timms said it was “vital” Mr Thorp was provided with medication to treat seizures and blackouts and requested he be checked for concussion.
The charges related to alleged offences committed between January 18 and March 28, including theft of a motor vehicle, criminal damage, dangerous driving, handling stolen goods and possessing a prohibited weapon.
