BENDIGO Harriers clubmates Sharon Barr and Geoff Shaw struck gold at last weekend’s Victorian Masters track and field championships in Doncaster.

There were many outstanding feats across the two-day meet at Tom Kelly Reserve.
Competing in the 55-59 years class, Barr hurled the hammer 29.10 metres to take gold.
A best of 20.02m in discus earned second place, as Barr also won bronze in shot put, 6.31m, and the 7.26kg weight throw, 8.23m.
Shaw’s medal spree in the 65-69 years category included gold in the high jump, 1.35m; triple jump, 9.34m; and pole vault, 2.75m.
His leap of 4.40m earned silver at long jump.
Several other athletes from Bendigo earned silver or bronze.
University’s Craig Green achieved a great time of 4:37.7 to claim silver in the 45-49 years 1500m, and was second in the 5000m duel in 17:32.72.
The general manager for Athletics Bendigo, Green lowered his personal best for the 5000m by 19 seconds.
Greg Hilson from South Bendigo AC won two silver and a bronze in the 45-49 years division.
Highs for Hilson were a leap of 1.55m to be runner-up at high jump, and a time of 69.50 to be second in the 400m hurdles.
A leap of 5.13m earned Hilson third placing in the long jump.
South Bendigo’s Leigh Browell was runner-up in the 40-44 years 3000m steeplechase, hammer throw and triple jump finals.
Bendigo Harriers clubmates Anne Buckley and Peter Cowell ran strongly.
Buckley was second in the 45-49 years 800m and 5000m finals, and third in the 1500m.
A time of 18:00.51 earned Cowell a silver medal in the 50-54 years 5000m final.
Eaglehawk’s Antony Langdon was third in the 45-49 years 60m.
