Leading Senior Constable Niall King said the crash occurred after a 34-year-old male driving a BMW failed to give way when turning right from Mundy Street onto McCrae Street.
He struck the 43-year-old female driving a light blue Ford.
“His car has struck the driver’s door of the (light blue Ford),” Leading Senior Constable King said.
“(The woman) has suffered shock and couldn’t extricate herself forcing SES to cut the driver’s side doors off.
“She was conveyed to hospital for checks but has not suffered serious injuries.”
Northbound traffic was halted for more than 30 minutes and southbound traffic was reduced to one lane as the SES, CFA, police and paramedics worked on the scene.
Leading Senior Constable Niall King said the driver of the BMW will get a ticket for failing to give way.
The scene is now clear and traffic conditions have returned to normal.
