Songs from almost 20 musicals will be featured in touring production The World of Musicals.
Developed on London’s West End, the show features an international cast bring to life the colourful, inspiring and memorable moments from the world’s most popular musical theatre productions.
The seemingly endless amount of songs are couple with some fantastic choreography and costume changes.
Cast member Ciaran Olohan said the show was visually spectacular.
“For us as performers, the show only lasts about 10 or 15 minutes because there is quick change after quick change,” he said.
“From the creative team to the costumes everything is visually amazing.
“The Lion King stuff was specially made in Africa and is very colourful and flamboyant. We Will Rock You has amazing costumes like military like jackets and tartan trousers while people know what to expect from Rocky Horror.”
Ciaran has been involved with The World of Musicals show for 12 months and is excited to bring it to Australia for the first time.
“We have been fortunate to take it all over the world but the producer lived in Australia for 25 years and was dying to bring show back home,” he said.
“The team has put together a show specifically for Australia. In doing that the creative team does a lot of research in to what’s popular in each country.
“We try to expand from greatest hits from the West End of Broadway and touch on as many genres as we can.”
Ciaran said with songs from Les Miserables, Phantom of the Opera, Cats and The Lion King, he hopes the audience will be eager to get involved.
“One thing we pride ourselves on is getting involved in audience,” he said.
“We often sit at front of stage or run through the aisles.
“There is a section from Sister Act where we sing O Happy Day and try to get people on feet dancing and hands clapping. We are buzzing when we see that.”
As for his personal preference of songs to sing, Ciaran said he has enjoyed playing a bad guy.
“My particular favourite is Jud from Oklahoma but, I’m not going to lie, the good guys get the good songs,” he said.
