What better way to welcome it than with a free live music performance?
More than 400 people attended the event in Rosalind Park on Friday, featuring the talents of Knot Music, Aimee Phegan, and Bendigo band Jack and the Kids.
Children, adults and fur babies found themselves a spot on the grass to enjoy the final instalment in a number of Music in the Park performances.
From December to February, the City of Greater Bendigo, FReeZA and community groups and organisations offered a suite of free or low cost events.
The broader series, called Summer in the Parks, ends on Monday.
Events at the weekend include golf croquet, the Bendigo Laughter Club, a historical walking tour of Bendigo, and fly fishing.
Musical offerings conclude on Sunday, with Songs from the Rotunda in Rosalind Park from 7pm – 8pm.

Grim Fawkner pops up for a farewell
Friday night’s performance included a surprise song from Grim Fawkner.
Sneaking in an acoustic tune at the end of Knot Music’s set, he announced that he was moving to New Zealand.
Having called Bendigo home for the past four years, Fawkner said he would miss the city.
“I’ll still keep coming back,” he reassured fans.
“Keep supporting live music so I have something to come home to one day.”
The move, which takes place on Monday, was inspired by a deep-rooted desire to reconnect with his Maori ancestry.
Supporters took the opportunity to wish him all the best at the end of his song.
