The Northern Country, North Central and Central forecast districts have a severe fire danger rating on Wednesday, prompting a total fire ban across the region.
Hot and dry conditions are forecast across the region.

A top of 33 degrees is expected for Bendigo and Maryborough, Castlemaine is forecast to reach a maximum of 32 degrees, while Echuca is looking at a top of 36 degrees.
The Bureau of Meteorology expects northerly winds will develop ahead of a milder, fresh southwesterly change over the west of the state in the late afternoon that will reach central districts at night.
