BENDIGO East Swimming Club members have returned from the Victorian Country Swimming Championships with a swag of medals and a fourth overall place finish.

The championships were contested over three days on the Australia Day weekend in Sale at the Lex Glover Outdoor Pool.
Layla Day claimed a gold medal in the 13-year-old women 100m backstroke and bronze medals in the 100m freestyle and 100m butterfly.
Fifteen-year-old Cameron Jordan scored gold in the men's 14-15-year-old 100m breaststroke, taking out an event record time.
He also won gold in the men 14-15-year-old 200 individual medley and silver in the men 's open 200m breaststroke.
Eighteen-year-old Kate Jordan achieved two silver medals in the women's 200m butterfly and 50m breaststroke and a bronze in the 200m individual medley.
James Kealy achieved gold in the 13-year-old boys 100m backstroke, three silver medals in the 200m individual medley, 100m breaststroke and 100m butterfly and also a bronze in the 100m freestyle.
Emily Kearns won a bronze medal in the girls 11-year-old 50m backstroke, while 16-year-old Kiara Verbeek achieved a bronze medal in the women's 17-year-old 100m breaststroke.
Other Bendigo East medallists included the girls 12-and-under 200m freestyle relay team comprising Emily Kearns, Aimee McMahon, Ella Downing and Zali Lau, who won bronze.
Bendigo East had 39 swimmers competing at the championships.
