One year ago today we were graced with the presence of the beautiful eight-metre tall Forever Marilyn statue. The 15-tonne statue was the attraction of the town for almost six months before being dismantled on July 16 last year.
Seward Johnson’s Forever Marilyn attracted visitors from all around the state as it took pride of place at the entry of Rosalind Park. More than 143,000 people visited the Bendigo Art Gallery’s Marilyn Monroe exhibition, with thousands more stopping at the Forever Marilyn sculpture at Rosalind Park.
With the entry to Rosalind Park proving the perfect location for the statue, the question since we farewelled Marilyn has been: what will be next? Plenty of suggestions have been shared, including the idea of featuring a giant Chicko Roll, which has been claimed as a Bendigo invention.
What would you like to stand tall in the centre of Bendigo?
