Curators at the Bendigo Art Gallery are busy hanging their favourite works to mark the 130th year of the institution.

Director Karen Quinlan said the milestone was a significant one.
“This is a celebration for the community because the gallery has always been loved by Bendigo,” she said.
“It’s wonderful to bring out the permanent collection.”
Historical and contemporary examples from the gallery’s many thousands of artworks will hang side-by-side in the show, which as been entitled Collective vision: 130 years.
Gallery spaces will each house differently themed artworks, including an animal room and a landscape room.
A calendar full of events have been announced to coincide with the anniversary.
They include lectures from exhibiting artists Guan Wei and Caroline Rothwell, as well as a tour of Bendigo’s public art, many examples of which are dotted around the gallery’s exterior.
The Bendigo Chamber Choir and Bendigo Chamber Orchestra will present a free performance inside the gallery with music inspired by the birthday exhibition.
