HOMEGROWN hit makers will dominate the Groovin the Moo stages this year following Tuesday’s line-up announcement.
The music festival, heading into its ninth year in Bendigo, will be held at the Prince of Wales Showgrounds on Saturday, May 6.
Among the Australian acts to play are Amy Shark, whose single Adore came in at number two in Triple J’s Hottest 100 of 2016 and currently sits at 13 on the ARIA charts, and Tash Sultana, whose songs Jungle and Notion were voted into positions three and 32 respectively in the Hottest 100 list.
Other domestic artists who will take to the stage include Violent Soho, Thundamentals, the Smith Street Band, Montaigne, Methyl Ethel, Allday, George Maple, Hayden James, the Jungle Giants, L-FRESH the LION, Northeast Party House and Slumberjack.
The Australian acts will be joined by international artists who include The Wombats, Architects, The Darkness, Loyle Carner and Snakehips, all from the UK; Americans Against Me!, Dillon Francis, and K.Flay; and German group Milky Chance, who also made an appearance in the Hottest 100.
It won’t be the first time The Wombats have visited central Victoria: the three-piece played at the 2011 festival.
“We’re thrilled with our line up for 2017,” Steve Halpin from Cattleyard Promotions said.
“It’s a mixture of established, nostalgic and breaking artists and we think there’s something there for everyone.”
The line-up so far has 23 acts but that figure will grow closer to the date, with organisers searching for one local artist from the Bendigo area to add to the list.
Local acts who want to play at the event must upload their tracks to Triple J Unearthed by midnight, February 26 to be in with a chance.
Last year popular Bendigo band Jack and the Kids was selected to play alongside such acts as MS MR, British India and The Rubens.
Pre-sale tickets to the festival will go on sale at 9am Wednesday and general sale tickets will be available from 9am on February 8.
Countdown on to popular music festival
WITH the line-up unveiled, fans are now counting down the days until music festival Groovin the Moo arrives in town.
Last year’s festival in Bendigo attracted thousands of music lovers, who were apparently unfazed by the cool and occasionally wet weather.
Bendigo is one of six regional towns and cities across Australia that will be visited by the all-ages festival in April and May across three consecutive weekends.
Other locations include Wayville, South Australia, Bunbury, Western Australia, Maitland, New South Wales, Townsville, Queensland, and Canberra.
Since its first event in Gloucester NSW in 2005, the festival's audience has grown to more than 105,000 people nationwide each year.
