On Country is curated by Janet Bromley and features artwork by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists.
Ms Bromley said she began planning the exhibition last year to coincide with the City of Greater Bendigo’s the Capital Community Connect Arts 2017 brochure.
“I thought about curating this last year when talking to (arts and culture coordinator) Maree Tonkin about doing something for this weekend and was exploring who could be here (to exhibit),” Ms Bromley said.
“It also came to my mind that I wanted some different people. There are a couple artists I haven't featured before.
“I also wanted a cross section of art, not Aboriginal art in itself but a cross section of Aboriginal people who do art.”

On Country will be on display for three days from Friday to Sunday.
It will be launched at 6pm on Friday at Dudley House as part of a garden party to celebrate this year’s creative calendar.
“It’s only up for three days which is a great way for the artists to get names known,” Ms Bromley said.
“It can be quite difficult to get artists to find a space to hang their art and so the focus on this was Aboriginal artists.
“I would love to do other stuff in future like an an elders’ exhibition and provide an opportunity for people to hang their art somewhere.
“With the garden party on to launch the brochure and this space being empty, we thought should put something in to complement the garden party.”
Ms Bromley’s artwork will be featured along with work from Troy Firebrace, Ian Clarke, Arkeria Armstrong, Mishel McMahon and Lorraine Brigdale.
“Troy is usually in my exhibitions, he draws a crowd. The rest of artists have done art and showed art somewhere else. It was about bringing artists together who are connected by heritage rather than artwork they do.
“We will have some of Arkeria's jewellery and a lot of painted work. All the artists paint in a different way.
“(Dudley House) is an area for us that will be vibrant for our art to be in.”
