After three days of hot competition, Loddon Campase was just 18 points adrift of Goulburn Murray.
There were many highs for the squad.
Bendigo’s Eliza Long netted consecutive women’s open singles titles after a hard-fought 6-4 6-2 win against Hope Curtis-McDonald from Goulburn.
Long then teamed with Bendigo’s Danielle Bowles for a 6-2 2-6 10-7 victory against Barwon’s Nicole Mullen and Olivia Ryan in the women’s open doubles final.
East Gippsland’s Aidan Fitzgerald teamed with Sophie Vickers to be the open mixed doubles champions.
Fitzgerald hails from Strathfieldsaye.
Goulburn’s victory was its first regional title in more than 50 years and broke Barwon’s run of eight consecutive championships.
Final standings - Goulburn 269, Loddon Campaspe 251, Barwon 237, Mornington Peninsula 203, Northern Mallee 195, Wimmera 142, East Gippsland 121, South West 96, Central Highlands 92.
Next year’s Inter-Regional Country Championships will be played from January 5-7 at Wodonga Tennis Club.
