MANDURANG routed struggling West Bendigo by 302 runs in their Emu Valley Cricket Association one-day match on Saturday.

After taking 20 overs to dismiss West Bendigo for just 54 – an innings that included five ducks – the Rangas then smashed 8-356 off 40 overs.
The Rangas’ run-feast featured a 67-ball 135 (17 fours, seven sixes) from Matt Giri in what was the opener’s second ton of the season, and 89 off 51 to Luke Rafferty (five fours, eight sixes).
Connor Robertson (4-41) was the leading wicket-taker for the Redbacks, while earlier, Mandurang’s Clinton Botham gave his bowling average a major boost with 5-6 off 5.2 overs.
Mitch Holt scored 31 of West Bendigo’s 54 runs, with only he and captain Scott Ryan (10) making more than two for the Redbacks.
• For the first time since the 2009-10 season Maiden Gully defeated Marong.
After dismissing the Panthers for 135, the Gully responded with 7-157 to win by 22 runs.
The Panthers had been solidly-placed after winning the toss when they were 2-100, before losing 8-35 as Jay McLeod (3-28) and Greg Burns (3-36) finished with three wickets each for Maiden Gully.
Jeremy Ross (53) scored a half-century for the Panthers, while the Maiden Gully innings featured 54 from Dallas Gill.
Dean Cosgriff took 3-20 for the Panthers.
• Sedgwick captain Rick Ladson’s red-hot form with the bat continued as the Rams belted Emu Creek by 138 runs.
On the back of scores of 97 and 233 n.o. in his previous two innings, Ladson cracked 90 in the Rams’ 275, while opener Alan Friswell (84) also got among the runs.
Anthony Collins’ 4-37 were the best bowling figures for the Emus, who are after being 3-25 in their chase were all out for 137 to remain winless.
Captain Simon Marwood (69) played a lone hand as he made more than half the Emus’ runs, while after missing out with the bat when dismissed for a duck, Andrew Sheehan was superb with the ball for the Rams in picking up 4-11 off seven overs.
• Meanwhile, in Sunday’s round one catch-up games, Maiden Gully made it two-from-two for the weekend with a 52-run victory over Mandurang.
Opener Dean Trew’s 84 led Maiden Gully to 7-243 batting first.
The Rangas were unable to replicate their batting exploits of the previous day when restricted to 9-191.
• United (8-200) proved too strong for Spring Gully (151), while no details were provided in the Sedgwick v Golden Gully clash.
