Leigh Moore, 24, of Swan Hill, will plead guilty to a range of offences in the Koori Court later this month.
His bid for bail in the Bendigo Magistrates’ Court was unsuccessful on Wednesday.
Officers spotted Moore driving on Eaglehawk Road at 12.10am on January 1 and attempted to pull him over, but he sped away along Sailors Gully Road.
Moore and another man then fled the vehicle before he was arrested by police.
He was driving while disqualified and a preliminary drug test found the presence of ice. The number plates were stolen from Fitzroy, the court heard.
Moore was wanted for a range of thefts committed at stores throughout Swan Hill from September to December.
On September 30, he stole the mobile phone from a taxi driver while he was receiving a lift. The driver used location tracking to trace the phone to Moore, who then sold it back to him for $110 without the SIM card.
He also stole $200 worth of cosmetics from Woolworths, $140 in men’s cologne from a pharmacy and full bags of meat from Coles.
Moore returned to Woolworths to steal $450 in shavers on Christmas Eve.
Prosecutor Senior Constable Cherree Blair described the offending as a “one-man crime wave”.
Defence counsel Kate Youngson said Moore had “woken up to his responsibilities” and wanted the matter to be over and done with.
He was remanded in custody to appear at the Koori Court in Swan Hill on January 30.
