Sheehan was part of the Australian team that was beaten 5-2 by England in the Blind Ashes Series early last year, but due to a glitch there were no baggy greens available for the Aussies to wear.
However, the wait has been well worth it for 19-year-old Sheehan, with his prized baggy green recently arriving in the mail.
“It feels unreal to have a baggy green… it will take pride of place on the mantlelpiece at home,” Sheehan said on Wednesday.
“It’s every cricketer’s dream to have a baggy green… it’s a nice fit.
“Hopefully, I get another chance to wear it representing Australia again.”
Last year’s Ashes Series comprised five 40/40 matches and three Twenty20 games – there was one washout – played over a week.
“It was a great experience and hopefully, that was the start of what will be a long career,” Sheehan said.
“We have trips to India for a World Cup and to England for another Ashes Series over the next few years, so hopefully, I can be part of those teams as well..”
Sheehan plays his club cricket with St Paul’s in the Victorian Blind Cricket Association.
With the competition currently on its mid-season break until February, St Paul’s sit in second position.
