Bowe will be a supplementary list player for the Stars in the Big Bash League and he has joined the team for their tour to New Zealand this week to play in the Basin Blast.
The left-arm leg-spinner has made a big impression in his first season of Premier Cricket with Essendon.
Bowe has played 11 first XI matches for the Bombers and taken 14 wickets at an average of just 25. His best bowling figures are 3-34.
Bowe bowled superbly for Essendon in a T20 match on Saturday against a Geelong side that included former Australian Test spinner and Big Bash League star Brad Hogg.
Bowe took 2-23 off four overs, while Hogg, who is playing for the Melbourne Renegades in the BBL this year, claimed 2-21 off four overs.
The Stars play the Wellington Firebirds in a trial game in New Zealand on Tuesday, before playing the same team in the Basin Bash on Wednesday.
“It’s a good opportunity for the younger guys on the list to showcase their skills for future honours,’’ Stars skipper David Hussey said of the NZ matches.
The Firebirds squad includes former Australian and New Zealand representative Luke Ronchi and is captained by former Kiwi Test batsman Hamish Marshall.
