THE 15-year-old boy who led police on a drawn-out pursuit from Whittlesea to the outskirts of Bendigo last Friday has been arrested.
The pursuit, which passed through a number of towns on the Northern Highway including Heathcote and Kilmore, was watched by thousands on a live stream from a Channel 7 helicopter.
Police were called to a Watsonia address at 4.30pm on Tuesday where they arrested the driver, aged 15, of Diamond Creek.
He was taken to a nearby police station and charged with a range of offences including aggravated burglary, theft of a motor car and conduct endangering persons.
He was remanded to appear in a children’s court at a later date.
There were three passengers in the car, two of which fled when the driver stopped for petrol – one of three petrol stops during the pursuit.
Police kept their distance from the vehicle and monitored its progress from a helicopter.
The car was later recovered in Thomastown.
Two girls from Thomastown, aged 17 and 14, were arrested and charged on Friday.
A Diamond Creek boy, 15, was charged with theft of a motor vehicle.
All three were also remanded in custody.
