Peter James Arthur, 44, made the plea during a committal hearing in the Bendigo Magistrates’ Court, where he appeared by video-link on Wednesday morning.
Arthur will appear at a directions hearing in the Melbourne Supreme Court on November 30, and he is expected to face a further plea hearing early next year.
His co-accused – Christine Ann Lyons, 45, and Ronald Lyons, 44, – have yet to enter pleas. They were both charged with murder earlier this year, after their accessory after the fact charge was upgraded.
Christine Lyons was charged with murder in August, and Ronald Lyons was charged with murder in September.
Police allege Ms Kelly was murdered around January 20 in the Kangaroo Flat home where the four lived together. Her body was found in bushland in Shelbourne on February 12.
Arthur murdered her with a hammer, before Christine and Ronald Lyons allegedly helped to orchestrate a cover-up and aided in hiding the body.
