After defeating reigning premier Strathdale last round, a win over the Redbacks at Harry Trott Oval this weekend would give the Hawks two wins over teams that they are expected to be challenging for a top-four berth with.
The Hawks have arguably the easiest draw in the BDCA and don’t play either the Suns or Redbacks again this season.
The Redbacks, who suffered a shock loss to Golden Square in round one, have been strengthened by the arrival of Clayton Holmes.
The opening batsman and medium-pace bowler started the season with Carlton second XI in Premier Cricket, but quit after a couple of games to play in the BDCA.
Golden Square and Bendigo will be out to maintain their winning records when they meet at MyJet Oval.
The Dogs’ batting stocks have been hurt by the unavailability of skipper Tim Wood.
First round losers Huntly-North Epsom and White Hills will do battle at Sunline Plastering Oval in Huntly.
The Power and Demons both squandered winning opportunities last round and will be desperate to avoid a 0-2 start.
Kangaroo Flat and Strathfieldsaye clash at Champions IGA Oval. The Roos got out of jail against White Hills last week and will be confident of success against a Jets’ side that struggled against Sandhurst.
All games this weekend are two-day matches played on Saturday and Sunday.
