Determined to hit back from last week’s defeat to South Bendigo, Strathfieldsaye faces a big ask against the leaders of the Quest Bendigo Central-backed pennant at the William Loud tennis complex in Nolan Street.
A talented Quest line-up includes Ryan Brook, who is yet to concede a set this season.
Brook’s games tally is 25-11.
Isaac Watson and Stuart Johansen are also in form.
Strathfieldsaye will look for big games from Michael Smyth, Kel Noonan and captain Terry Smith in the contests on courts one, six, seven and eight.
Play hits off at 6.30pm.
• Bendigo Lawn Rising and South Bendigo will be keen to improve their record to 2-1.
Jeremy Abel and Lachlan Hewitt were Rising’s best in last week’s clash with Spring Gully Butterflies.
Zac Lethlean won four sets in the opening round and could be a valuable inclusion for Rising.
South Bendigo played superb tennis to beat Strathfieldsaye in round two as Jordan Hicks and Peter Somerville led the way.
In two rounds, Somerville has achieved a sets tally of 8-1 and won 46 of 67 games.
The Rising and South Bendigo duel will be on courts 18, 19, 20 and 26.
• Epsom faces Spring Gully Butterflies.
Despite a winless start, Epsom has shown it will be no pushover this season.
The play of Jono Guy was a highlight last week.
Epsom also won both doubles matches against Quest.
Butterflies have plenty of experience and talent on court.
Matt Hartland and Danielle Bowles will be major threats to Epsom’s bid to chalk up its first victory of the season.
Jamie Brown and Lynda Gallagher also played in the Gully’s first win of the 2016-17 campaign.
Section one matches are on Saturday from 1.30pm at BTA headquarters.
