Only this time the result went the way of the Bulls, who snapped a run of seven-straight finals losses to win a thriller by five points at Charlton on Saturday.
The Bulls more than doubled their three quarter-time score in the final term to win 9.9 (63) to 8.10 (58) – their first victory in a final since 2008.
The Bulls had just 4.5 on the board at three quarter-time as they trailed by 16 points, before they booted 5.4 to 2.1 with the wind in the final term.
Brendon George kicked three of his four goals in the final term to be one of the Bulls’ best, while coach Tom Carland was brilliant, as were Michael Monteith, ruckman Lochlan Sirett and Daniel Ratcliffe.
In their season-ending loss, Charles Murrie, Jarred Newell, Edward Landwehr and Dan Clark were the best for the Royals.
