The Bendigo highway patrol is targeting pedestrians and road users around Hargreaves Mall, laying more than 30 charges for summary offences in the first day of the operation on Wednesday.

But despite working in plain clothes, highway patrol members reported encountering no issues with antisocial behaviour.
Operation Red Man saw 30 pedestrians fined for failing to obey traffic lights, one cyclist fined for failing to wear a bicycle helmet and one driver fined for using a mobile phone while driving.
In total, the fines equalled more than $2500.
The operation continues today with police targeting antisocial behaviour and providing a police presence in the area.
Uniformed patrols of the mall were stepped up last month in response to increased reports of violence.
