A MELBOURNE man wanted on a number of outstanding warrants has been caught by police after his car broke down on the Calder Highway in Harcourt.

Acting Sergeant David Semmens said police stopped to lend assistance at 5am this morning, and a routine checked uncovered the man was wanted for allegedly carrying out an armed robbery in Dandenong.
Police allege the 27-year-old used a machete during the robbery.
The man, from the Melbourne area, was also wanted for allegedly evading police eights times, along with a number of alleged drug and family violence offences.
A man and a woman who were also in the car have been charged on summons.
The man will appear in the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court tomorrow.
