Bendigo CIU Senior Sergeant Jason Poulton said police were waiting for the coroner’s report to confirm the identity of the man.
Senior Sergeant Poulton said investigators were waiting for the arson chemist’s report for a cause of the blaze, however were not treating the fire as suspicious.
The father of the victim discovered the fire at about 4am Saturday morning.
The residence – described as a bungalow – was a worksite portable shed which had been converted into a residence.

Police are investigating a fatal fire in Redesdale this morning.
Emergency services were called to a residence on North Redesdale Road just after 4am following reports of a fire.
Fire crews extinguished the blaze and following an inspection of the property located a deceased male.
An arson chemist is en route from Melbourne to assist Bendigo police in the investigation.
The man is believed to be a resident of the bungalow.
The exact cause of the fire is yet to be determined however at this stage, it is not being treated as suspicious.
Police will prepare a report for the Coroner.
