After shooting a course record 71 off the stick at Neangar Park on Monday, Dengate yesterday claimed the Ruby McKenzie Trophy for overall best 36-hole gross score.
Dengate’s round of 75 at Belvoir Park was the best A-division stroke score yesterday as the plus-one handicapper finish on 146 strokes, eight ahead of Sale’s Bonnie Chignell, 154.
Dengate’s clubmate Kristen Farmer, who plays off scratch, also had a brilliant tournament and placed third on 157.
Barham’s Julie Mortlock (28 handicap) took home the Vi Teesdale Trophy for best nett score with 136, with Gisborne’s Karen Dillon (23) the runner-up three shots further back.
Mortlock also won the D-division gross on 192, while Dillon took out the C-division gross on 185 and C-division nett on 139.
Mount Alexander’s Fleur Smith had the best gross (182) and nett (146) scores for B-division.
Carol Stuart had the best B-division gross score of 87 yesterday, while Dillon’s 90 and Mortlock’s 97 were best in their divisions.
The trio also took out their respective divisions’ best nett score yesterday.
Joyce Craig aced the 138m 10th hole at Neangar Park.
Castlemaine’s Marj Lang, Buninyong’s Helen McSparron and Rosalie Drill from Rich River were nearest the pin at Belvoir Park’s par-threes yesterday, while Dianne Rogers from Portland and Craig took NTP honours at Neangar.
