It will be his first in the senior men’s side with son Ethan, and in doing so will create a piece of history for the club.
Greg and Ethan will become the first father-son combination to play in a senior men’s team for the Blazers when they take to the pitch against Mornington Peninsula in Frankston in their opening game of the 2016 Vic League 2 season.
“It’s very exciting to be playing with Ethan in the senior team… getting the chance to play in the same team as your son certainly isn’t something you get to do every day,” Greg said this week.
“And it’s even better when considering Ethan had a few health issues last year, but he’s back on track and training well, so we’re looking forward to it.”
Greg, a striker, first played with the CV Blazers in 1994 – long before his now 14-year-old son Ethan was born.
While Saturday will be midfielder-striker Ethan’s first game in the CV Blazers men’s team, he has played A grade locally for Strathdale and is in the Victorian Junior Development program.
Joining Ethan in making his senior men’s debut on Saturday will be Lachlan Archibald.
The CV Blazers will this year field two men’s and two women’s teams and an inaugural under-16 side.
