The Southern 80 Ski Race has been postponed following the death of a water skiier.
Police are now appealing for witnesses following the incident, which occurred at about 2.40pm this afternoon.
Police and emergency services responded to reports a water skier had fallen while on the water the annual water ski race at Moama.
The 51-year-old Sydney man was pulled from the water unconscious.
Police and Ambulance Paramedics conducted CPR, however, the man died at the scene.
Following the incident, NSW Maritime announced via Facebook that the Southern 80 had been postponed.
“A decision will be made shortly as to whether the competition restarts tomorrow as planned,” the statement read.
The death follows a fatal accident in Moama last night in which a 22-year-old Bendigo woman was killed.
The 19-year-old female driver, also from Bendigo, was airlifted to the Alfred Hospital, Melbourne.
Her condition remains critical.
Officers from Deniliquin Local Area Command and the Marine Area Command are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of the male water skier.
Investigators are appealing for anyone who witnessed or has footage of the incident and not yet spoken to police to contact Crime Stoppers.
A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
