In just 11 career starts the impeccably-bred sprinter has only been out of the placings once and posted six impressive victories, including a last start 23.74 Bendigo win last Friday.
On that occasion Smart Action began quickly from box one and from the same draw this week he is the runner to beat in the Southern Cross Austereo free for all.
While Smart Action will be the punters elect, there are several other smart sprinters in the line-up, including the Lyn Anstee-trained pair Sparkeen and Rickety Gate.
Both Huntly-based speedsters are capable of clocking slick times on their home track and will make their presence felt in the sixth event.
Leading NSW trainer Anthony Azzopardi is well represented at the meeting, with his stand out runner exciting sprinter Asa Killa Queen.
After saluting at Wentworth Park three weeks on end, Asa Killa Queen was one of the favoured runners for the Group 1 National Derby at his most recent race track appearance. However, an uncharacteristic slow start cost him any chance of claiming the elite title.
Dropping back sharply in grade and drawing box one should see Asa Killa Queen return to the winners circle and build on the impressive record he has built to date of 11 wins and seven placings from 21 starts.
The speedy Blue Westmead and experienced competitors You Say So and Dr. Phil look the runners most likely to test the favourite’s winning credentials.
