Lennytheshark has opened a $1.10 favourite with TAB Sportsbet for the $60,000 Group Two event.
Punters and bookies expect Lennytheshark to have little trouble in adding the Bendigo Cup to his recent Victoria Cup and Inter-Dominion Championship victories.
Quality pacer Hectorjayjay is second favourite at $11 and 2014 Bendigo Cup winner Im Corzin Terror is third favourite at $13.
Im Corzin Terror might be the best value in the race.
The Dean Braun-trained pacer’s form reads better than it looks on paper.
He ran a strong third in the Geelong Cup, fourth in the Horsham Cup and won the Hamilton Cup before having two luckless runs in the Ballarat Cup and the A.G. Hunter Cup.
The return to mobile conditions and the drop in class will suit the eight-year-old.
Polemarker Franco Ledger is on the fourth line of betting at $15.
Franco Ledger’s driver Anthony Butt virtually conceded the Cup to Lennytheshark.
“Franco Ledger is a nice horse and the draw will help him, but it’s going to be very hard to beat Lennytheshark,’’ Butt said.
Franco Ledger, who hasn’t won in its past 11 starts, should get a nice run on the pegs behind the leader and be charging home.
Hotasel, who has drawn gate six for trainer-driver John Justice, is $26, while Classy Western and Uncle Wingnut are the outsiders of the field at $81 and $101 respectively.
